Using 'P' plates in europe

My brother and i are going to Norway with the JEC next saturday. He has just passed his test and i just wanted to check whether he needs to use P plates when driving over there. I know its optional here but i also know that in some countries you have to use them for a certain amount of time after passing your test.
I have looked everywhere but cant find any answers.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

If you use P plates dont forget that you will have to stick to slightly different speed limits than everyone else!!!!!!

Dont bother....what can they do LOL!
