I just had a recorded delivery letter saying that they hadn't received my signed proposal and that this was a 'non conditional
cancellation and as,such cannot be withdrawn' . To be fair I hadn't sent it as it had got mixed in with some other stuff and forgot.
I rang them the next day to discuss it and they were really good and extended another 10 days. Needless to say I sent them the docs and will ring them
monday to ensure they got it.
Have they actual cancelled it or just given you a date when they are going to.
I'll go and dig out my docs and the letters (yes letters) they have sent so that if you do have problems you can at least quote another
customers experience.
Regards Pete

Complain and then take it to the FOS if neccesary - they'll likely sort you out if subject to that threat, mainky cos they get charged £425 per
referral to FOS whether they're right or wrong.

Technically, for them to cancel the cover, they need to have the certificate in their hands, not yours.
I'd call them in a friendly manner to start with, explaining that you've sent docs etc etc.
If that doesn't work, there's always the ombudsman, FSA etc etc

Yup, I got 6 points because of it
Many years ago when I were a student type I was insured with Firebond. Payment didn't go out of my account one month (must have spent it on
beer) so they cancelled my policy. I didn't find out about it until 4 months later when I had an accident and phoned them up to tell them. It
seems they sent me a recorded letter to tell me it got cancelled, but it never got delivered and they got the letter back a couple of weeks later.
Even though they therefore KNEW I hadn't had the letter they made no effort whatsoever to contact me...
Explained in magistrates court and managed to get out with the absolute bare minimum punishment

They are a pain in the a**e for that!
When I was trying to get through my SVA they sent me letters regularly threatening to cancel my policy as I hadn't given them my Reg no. A phone
call later and told to ignore the letter as they had made a not on the system.
Renewed it this year and sure enough a week later a letter saying they were canceling the policy as I hadn't sent my proof of mileage which they
had never asked for. Another phone call and the form arrived the next day so I returned it.
They are cheap, but a pain to deal with!
