Silverstone Classic
Silverstone classic
Anyone been? Comments, recommendations, tips?
I've just been asked by a mate if I want to go up for the whole weekend, looks like a top weekend from looking at the shiny website but
what's the reality? Worth the money?
I do rather enjoy a bit of classic racing, most fun I ever saw was an all comers race at the end of a classic race meet at Donnington some years ago
with a cobra, a Ferrari of some description and a diablo fighting out for the win. The Ferrari and Lamborghini were trying so hard to keep up with
the Cobra, squealing and sliding out of the chicane into the pit straight every lap but the cobra had the beating of them and was just set up better,
with so much more grip that one lap it came out of the chicane right up on two wheels without having hit the inside curb! That must have scared him,
he never came round like that again but he did hold onto the win

a resounding "yes" from this corner.
Went to the F1 GP @Silverstone a few years ago and the classic race on the day was far more entertaining than any of the others...

I've been to the 'Coys' classic festival at Silverstone a number of times in the past. If it's anything like that then I would
say absolutely yes!
The whole atmosphere and experience is awesome. Plus, unlike at GP's and other big meetings, at the 'club' meetings you usually have
access to most areas of the paddock and pits where you can get right up to the cars and chat to the drivers.
Highly recommended. I'm hoping to go myself, work permitting.
Martin.
Farts are like Rock'n'Roll. You love your own but you hate everybody else's. Lemmy, Motorhead.

I usually go , it is a follow on from the Coys festival and seems to have got bigger and better over the years, last year there was a big line up of
group C cars from the 80s and 90s and almost every other car you can imagine. The ability to walk around the pits and look at the cars closely is also
worth going for.

cheers guys, thanks for the info, I'll definitely head up for it then. Also saw they do something called the
retro run which gives you 2 laps of Silverstone in your classic :-D but at £99
I think I'll give that a miss and just watch the races.
