Trailer Wheel Question?
Here is a Swift 12/2 coming to a timely death. I'm in the process of stripping off the body to make a car transporter.
It has 13" 4x100 pcd wheels that are 62" apart. My MNR front track is 65"
Question for you guys: is there a 4 x 100 pcd wheel with a negative offset to push the rims out further past 65"??

maybe wheel spacers might give you what you need.

thats an awful lot, trying to add 1.5" to each side. I also know from bitter experience that having a half inch on either side of your car isnt
enough! How about using smaller wheels and raising the bed over them?

Either cut and shut the axle, lift the bed over the wheels or make the wheels 'drive over'. I'd go for the 'drive over'
where you can either make rubber mudgaurds that squash as you drive over them or have guards that hinge out of the way to the side of the trailer. Or
make curved ramps that act as guards when they are stored for towing.

Id go for that but it can often lead to the bed being high.
Cut and shut the axle is another option if u strengthen it when u wld it back togher.
I wouldnt space the wheels. Especially not that far as u need about 2 inches extra per side.

how wide is the car around where the exhaust can starts?
If you drive the car 'over' the wheels it means you can have the bed quite low and i'd assume improved handling. the issue is making
sure the exhaust isn't going to catch when the front wheels come down.

Could you use some deep dish Wellers inside out?

we made one the same way ripping down a caravan (what a good feeling) and went for cut and shut axle, with a brace top and bottom to add extra
strength at the weld, about 1500 miles in and it's all good

Thanks guys, I'll check it out once I've 'removed' the body.
I'm not a fan of wheel spacers, they make me feel very uneasy .
The axle is HUGE about 5" diameter and cutting and shutting would mean remaking the chassis as well. Its an aluminum section that gets a lot of
the strength from the axle.
I was thinking along the lines of wheels with a neg ET aka old RWD jobbies that would give me enough room to drive over a little bit as suggested. it
needs to be friendly enough to use as a parking space as well in the garage.
Anyway 4 weeks to SVA to get it sorted

Out of curiosity while putting dog into its nightime quarters I ran a tape measure over the Wellers, not allowing for tyres which protrude about
0.5" beyond rims the distance from hubface to inside edge of wheel rim (as normally fitted) is 4" the out side is 2.75"
reversing wheel would thus add 2 x 1.25" approx 2 .5" to the width of trailer which still isn't enough I guess without longer studs
and quarter inch spacers

Ford wheels won't fit the pcd.
You could find some car wheels to fit or go for smaller trailer wheels to drive over.

yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Yeah, thought about keeping the body on and putting some back doors on BUT, its been stripped for spares at the local caravan place and as such all
the outside trim that holds it together is gone, the windows have been missing a long time and the plywood iinside is rotten. Plus knowhere to keep
the bloody thing. A trailer will go in the garage with the car on no problem
There must be some 100 X 4 wheels with a negative offset from the old RWD days. Currently the distance from the back of the wheel to the hub face
inside is 80mm. There is surely some that are around 40/50mm. That would give me enough to squeeze the front wheels past.
