Engine age

I have picked up a V8 engine, supposedly from a Rover P5B (engine number would confirm this), and intend to use it in a Viento, but I don't have any documentation with the engine. With regards the SVA test, will I need official documentation to prove its age so as not to fall foul of the emission controls?

Any help / advise / contacts would be much appreciated

Cheers
Donners

I'd have thought rover could provide you with proof of age based on the engine number. I know Ford do.
I have some numbers written down at home. I'll try and remember to post em.
