Steve Gusto was right......
The speedway at Indy IS well worth a visit if you are in the area.
I just got back from a couple of days in the Indianapolis area and managed to squeeze a visit in.
I took Steve's advice and got the back seat on the bus...very impressive, quite an awe inspiring place..
The musuem too...very cool..lot's of nice stuff..including the second birdcage Maserati I've seen this year....can't actually be
that many, can there?
Best thing of all, musuem, track tour ...6 dollars in total...great value....
Steve, thanks for the tip..

well, after nearly 2,800 post it had to happen sometime
I had to drive for nearly 8 hrs and 480 miles on a Saturday to see the track, but I thought it was worth it too.
As you approach, its cool. I sat in the mcdonals on the main bolevard leading up to it and its all so nice and well laid out....compares well against
our oval at Corby, stuck behind the power station
Its a big place, just staninf in the infield I had to take loads of pics to get a panorama shot of just one end of the track!
Its a real shame they dont let you off the bus......and I did TWO laps yer cheapscate. Shame they got a guy with miky mouse voice to do the
commentary on the bus.
The maserati - was that the red car made with unrealistically tiny round rods as a chassis?
The cars I enjoyed were the 1911 winner, the gas turbine car, and mansells 1993 3rd place car. The pics around the walls of all the winners was good
too!
shame there wasnt a race on!
I was also suprised how many cracks there were on the track surface, and those bricks looked a bit clean to be original too!
