despite the type of poly roof I think you'd have a problem with damp build up which will eventually wreck the plasterboard.

Also, what about weight of the plasterboard ceiling hanging from the structure.
If you are trying to block out the light/heat, why not just fit blinds?
At least you can open them if you change your mind.

the structure looks to be more than adequate for the job-my whole idea is to try and make the conservatory more of a useable living space(year round)the trick is that a conservatory must have a transparent roof to make it not need to comply with building regs, so i am looking for a loophole.

If you could make it so that the weight of the plasterboard wasnt hanging on the ceiling yud be ok but condenstion would be a problem.

To save the hassle get some nice thick blackout blinds put up. They make hell of a difference to how the room is and the heat retention etc. Then in the summer just roll them up.

No. It'll look sh!t.

I have five skin shaded poly in mine that lets the lower winter sunlight through and reflects most of the high summer sun.
