Non Starting MG ZTT
O/T but wondering if anyone has any experience of this:
Girlfriend's mother's ZTT has begun to intermittently not start.
It's about 3yrs old. 160bhp turbo model AFAIK.
Electrics all appear to come on fine on the key, it just does nothing at all when turning to start.
Are they known for dodgy starter motors? Or could it be the immobiliser? I've tried using the PLIP(sp?) a few times in case it's that.
Anything else?
She was due to go on holiday in it today.. fortunately my girlf' has a spare car! 
So they've gone away and it's currently stuck out in the road and too damn heavy for me to push up the drive out the way!

Sound likes like a dirty connection or the solenoid on the starter.
Is it an automatic ? -- if so the starter isolater switch is worth checking.

I was hoping you'd see this thread BT! 
It's a manual.
I'll go and see if I can get to the starter to clean up connection!
Other than that, it's a new car (well, new compared with the usual ones I play with), so I'm a bit scared to touch it!

Do the headlights flash when you turn it on?
If they do then it's the battery....would suggest a new one...

Ok, well all lights etc. came on ok so presume battery ok.
Tried starting it a couple of times, and it did kind of start to turn over the engine... then stopped again.
Not the er,er,er* of a flat battery, but just the starter motor stopped dead. Tried again couple of times and it clicked once then nothing.
So out came the hammer and I thunked the solenoid lightly... after that it started ok!
So got it out the road and up the drive.
So I guess that's the starter motor gone then!?

Sounds like you've sussed it.
My dad refused to believe he had a flat battery because everything appeared to work but the car wouldn't start. Turn of the key just resulted in
a light "click" of a relay.
It was only when I pointed to the paragraph in the manual about "if the lights flash then this signifies your battery is fubarred" that he
agreed to try jumping the bugger.

BTW Don't be afraid to work on it - if his 75 is anything to go by, then they're pretty easy to work on - even with a V6 in the engine
bay!
