Another simple SolidWorks question
Im a bit stuck with this one..
I have drawn a 2D engineering drawing in SW using the sketch function..
Its made up of straight lines...
I want to round off all the corners so that when its cut, it doesn't have sharp corners (obviously!)
Whats the easiest way of applying a uniform corner radius on all of the edges? There doesnt seem to be any way of selecting the two sides and making
them resolve....GRRRR

Hi there.
You should be able to choose a command from the "sketch" toolbar called "Sketch Fillet" (it can also be found by clicking
"tools" and then "sketch tools" and then "Fillet"
This then brings a box up on the left, where you can enter the required radius for the corners. If you type in the radius you want there, you should
then be able to select the corner "points" that you want to apply a radius to. You can select as many as you wish before exiting the
command, and they will all be the same radius as the first one, and can be updated all together by updating the first selected corner.

Chears Bigandy....so simple!
I was trying to draw circles on the corners and then remove the excess material....time consuming and messy!!!

Another option, as you are sketching a vertical line you click to a point. If you then move the cursor away, then back to the point the line command
changes to a radius command. Some pics below to help explain. All done without selecting another command from the menus.

Or, whilst you are sketching, just hit the "a" key on the keyboard to switch between arcs and lines. saves faffing around clicking all
over the place
Generally speaking, and depending on exactly what you are trying to create, it is considered better* to put radiussed corners on things using a
seperate command (eg, sketch fillet).
*by better, I mean quicker, easier to constrain (especially if you check the "keep corners constrained" box in the sketch fillet command),
easier to update in the future, and most importantly, more legible for other users that have to take on your work.
That said, flipoping between arcs and lines in a sketch is really useful!
