Police camera vans

Do these vans ever have the cameras in use pointing through the windscreen? Passed one today, approached him a bit quick but van was facing me, when I passed it I was within the speed limit, just wondering whether to expect a NIP...

No, you cannot get a reliable reading through the glass.

Quite correct, there must be nothing in front of the gun. I mind someone challenged this and won as no one could prove the gun might not be affected by the glass. However had you been driving dangerously i.e. overtaking on solid white lines etc then you can get charged.
