Quality Holiday Destination - suggestions
Hi everyone!
I am sure there are some seasoned travellers on here, so wanted to ask a question about good destinations.
My wife is pregnant and when we plan on travelling (Sept) she will be around 28 weeks, I am after treating her to a realy nice 5 star holiday - I am
after warm (hot but not tooo hot), within 4 or 5 hours (due to DVT risk on long haul) and all inclusive.
I have been looking and I can get 7 nights in the dominican 5 star all inclusive for £600 ish each... but its 10 hours away!!!
I'm after that real wow factor that a long haul can give, but minus the long haul!!
Any tips?
I know I am being very specific, but thats why I'm asking for some advice.
We havn't been away for 3 + years (our honeymoon) and so I need it to be on a par with that - except it was staying in dubai, in the sheriton!
I've got my work cut out!!

Have you tried asking your 28 week pregnant Mrs if she wants to sit on an aeroplane at all? If so choose somewhere with good medical facilities in
case of problems. Premature labour in the Dominican Republic doesn't sound much fun. Also check if airlines are happy to fly her. They may be
reluctant.

Without going long haul I think you're pretty much restricted to Egypt. There are of course plenty of other pleaces like Cyprus as previously
mentioned but at that time of year I'm not sure you can guarantee the weather.

You need to check the weather in the Carribean in september - lots of islands have a good chance of stormy weather as it's the hurricane season
in that part of the world.

Weather in Cyprus should be fantastic in September.
It's usually pretty good well into October and never really gets that bad at any time.

Italian lakes -- Lake Garda ------ Bardolino, Garda Town, or Sirmionie. Normally the terms in these resorts are half board but restaurant
lunches are very reasonable. Classy old hotels, great service, great climate, nothing bites, flight and airport transit times are reaonable. Lots of
history and scenary but most of the day is spent walking or shoping or taking ferry trips.
If you want to find out about any resort or hotel anywhere try http://www.tripadvisor.com/
Apart from reviews it has resort forum where you can get advice on any local queries, such as transport, location of docotors , pharmacys car hire ---

Was in Cyprus last November and IIRC the temperature was well up in the twenties and although cool in the evenings it wasn't uncomfortable

If you are considering the Dominican I can vouch for the hospitals there, well Mrs can, she was very seriously ill there this time last year and the
care was second to none.
Weather in September, it is hurricane season but the chances are slim, they tend to miss there but we did get caught in one about 4 years ago.
Flights, yup its sorta long haul but can highly recommend Thomas cook for long haul, there leg room is better than most scheduled long haul flights
and if you upgrade, (not to expensive) then its even better.
The Dominican ? Excellent food, great beaches, guaranteed weather but not blisteringly unbearably hot with usually a nice breeze on coast.
Well we like it, choose hotel carefully and you wont go wrong if your up for the flight time, its around 9 hours out, 7 ish back.
