Misfire?
I have a misfire (stutter) when i rev above 1500 - 2000 rpm. the plugs, air and oil filter are all new and distributer has been adjusted.
What else could it be my (limited) mechanical knowledge leadds me to think it may be the leads?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Assuming Midgit then look at oil in SU carbs dashpot.
As the car is prehistoric you may have to mix about a bit so try engine oil first.
Pluck the air filters off, First balance the carbs, a bit of small tube and listen to the hiss is fine, tweek them until its even now:
Now watch the pistons, they should both rise in unison as you rev the engine.
Also while you can see the pistons you can check mixture, poke a screwdriver under the piston with it running at idle lift 1/4" (no more) engine
revs should rise very slightly or stay the same, this is good. If the revs drop its to weak, rise and to rich.

How did you set the points? If it was just sitting the gap with feeler guages then they might not be right once the engine is running. Wear in an old
dizzy means they are best set by dwell angle when running. Did you grease the dizzy cam?
Also didn't you set the tappets last week? Not too tight are they? If its the Triumph engine they have very light springs and are easy to get
too tight.

Points were set cold so will try that and we did grease the cam.
Good point about the tappets, will check them tonight
