DVLA Tintop Tax RANT (sorry)
I've spent the last few days trying to tax my tintop online but kept getting a message telling me I can't, I put that down to the fact
that my MOT was done less than a week ago and the database hadn't caught up.
Anyway I phone them today to find out the problem. After 20 mins on the phone we finally find out that the DVLA want to inspect the car as they have
it down as a Cat C write off.
It doesn't take much to confuse the DVLA apparently.
My previous car was a Citroen Xantia (silver) and that was written off, my 'new' car is a ... Citroen Xantia (Grey) and I took my personal
reg with me so they both have the same registration plate.
Now I'd understand if it wasn't the DVLA that changed the reg for me !!
I was going to use my CC for taxing the car but the Post Office don't accept CC's for car tax so I'm gonna be skint on my hols
now.
They want me to write to them to sort it out. I told her that seeing as the problem was caused by them, they sort it out.
We'll see if it's sorted in 6 months time then
P.S. Anyone else Pee'd off with 0870 and 0845 numbers? I have free landline calls to geographical numbers (01274, 0171 etc.) but I have to pay
for calls to 0870 and 0845.
I know about SAY NO TO 0870 but it's hit and miss
Sorry, I'll leave it there.
P.P.S. You think I'm annoyed now? I've got to phone the insurance company now and find out why it's taken them 7 weeks to do
nothing about my Locost!

Oh so they hadn't thought of looking at the CHASSIS numbers then, just to make sure that they were/weren't the same car. I thought that
that is/was why all chassis numbers are (meant to be) different.
Try point that out to them. After all THEY should have the chassis numbers on file.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Just to bring you up to date, I got a phonecall on my mobile the other day from a nice chap at the DVLA.
He simply said that the matter was now sorted and that the car I have now is 'clean' and not a Cat.C write off.
Good result and er ... well done DVLA

Well done on getting it sorted.
Do you think anyone from DVLA has ever bought a Cat C or Cat D, repaired it and taken the tag off the database before?
