bloody DVLA
I wrote a letter to DVAL maidstone asking them to confirm i can use my own created VIN number. I get a garbled message from one of their staff asking
me to give them a ring at their local office ( 01622771570 ).
which i do, except no one is bloody answering the phone.
why leave me a message asking me to ring if no one answers the bloody phones!
what a bunch of stupid monkeys. makes me so cross.

I got told my local DVLA did not accept local calls, how about that for customer service!
That said all the people working in the centre when I visited were great, just the systems that they had to work with weren't the best.

I didn't register my donor in my name or SORN it either. I had the v5 for about two years and I never had any problem using it for age related
plate. Seems to be different from office to office.

I've just got back from the Maidstone DVLA office. I have to say they were good when I re-registered the Tiger in England - but it just took me
half an hour to tax it! Post office would have been quicker.
They also have a nice thing going where there is no parking other than double yellows and a warden hides round the corner!

For a Q reg it doesn't matter in the slightest.
If the car wasn't scrapped (i.e. officially) you should be able to get a V5c for it if you know the reg.
