Buying off Ebay.com
anyone bought asnything off the USA ebay?
seen a nice exhaust manifold I fancy.

Seller has tons of feedback, just wondering what the risk is? Customs fees to pay on arrival??

Yes there will be VAT and duty to add on top, as well as a likely handling charge at this end from the couriers. Still works out pretty cost effective
for many items so do your sums before ordering. Been covered a few times before and the seller may be able to reduce the duty etc by keeping the item
value low of the invoice (but i didnt tell you that!!)

sometimes you get away with customs duty and vat especially if it is second hand of low value or is a present ;-)
if custom fees are applicable then post office parcels recive this at their offices before handing over the parcel.

Someone once told me that classic car part will not attract duty, but you will have to pay VAT.
So if the seller puts it as a classic car part you should get away with it.

Only thing I would say having had direct experience of cheap manifolds etc is that the quality varies a LOT.
They are often made in Korea (hence they are so cheap) and they can bit a bit rubbish.
You might find that the flanges are warped and need machining down to make them flat again, or that it cracks after no very long (worth making some
kind of brace or bracket to take some of the weight but still allows it to move around a bit).
Also those cheap gaskets can fail after not very long - usually worth paying more for OEM gaskets. Although in a kit car your access is a bit better
than in a normal car.
These look a bit like the manifolds sold by "ssautochrome" put a search into google for them (along with other choice key words) and
you'll see some honest opinions from people who've been disappointed with similar kit.
That said for ~£100 vs several times that to get one made in the UK it is probably worth a gamble.
I had one of their later better designs on my 200SX S14a (SR20DET engine) and with a bit of machining and a custom support bracket it worked just fine
and the car went on (with other tweaks) to make approx 370bhp with a standard bottom end and compression!

Also that bit about them being charged is a bunch of arse - they just undervalue them or similar.
