private plates
Hi guys,
I might just be buying a classic car to export from het UK to the netherlands (I'm dutch). Thing is, this car has got a set of private plates.
What would hapen to this plate if i export the car? Will the registration number still "belong" to me and can I sell it on or is it worth
nothing anymore?
Cheers,
Sebastiaan

Would have thought there wouldn't be any problems in the UK . Registration numbers sell all of the time but I'm not sure of the correct
procedure . Might be worth getting in touch with one of the companies that specialise in this sort of thing?? Would you have any problems importing a
car without a registration into Holland?

I'm not certain about this but I think the best plan would be to get it taken off the car (if its worth doing) before you export it.
I think it could be difficult to sell it once you've exported it.
They can ask to inspect any car that a plate is being removed from!
It will cost you £80 to transfer it plus £25 to put it onto a retention certificate.
So you've got to ask yourself how much it is worth.
A lot of the quotes the private plate companies give you are what they'd put it up for sale for on a commission basis - NOT what they'd
buy it for outright (which they don't do that often and if they did it would be a LOT lower figure).
Hope this helps.
