Clio wheel bearing
I've just been asked to replace a front wheel bearing in my nephew's '96 Clio 1.2 tomorrow
Never worked on a French car before (avoided like the plague) - is it straight forward?
cheers
Mark
ps he says the clutch is on its way out too is that a big jobby?

hi, i might be of assistance as i am a Renault owner and been driving renaults for the past 10 years.
Wheel bearing is very easy if you have the tools.
As for the clutch, they say that there are two ways.
4 hours according to the program without removing the gearbox
8 hours with removal of the gearbox.
I need to check the procedures for these.
I should be able to do it in a while.

Forgot to mention, the pictures are from a diesel manual for a 1994 model but you are not dealing with the engine and all clios are the same from 1991
till 1998

you can get away with just lowering the subframe slighlty. leave one sub bolt undone slightly and take the rest out. this will give you just enough
room to move the box back. not a nice job on the floor!!
personally i hate Renaults and think they should all be sent back to France!!
im sure someone will be along shortly to disagree and claim they had 20 or so renos in ten years and not one problem!!
rant over i think
Good luck
Rob

Quick reminder, when you undo the bolt of the driveshaft, be carefull not to pul it out as all the gearbox oil will go on the floor.
No, i have been driving renault for 10 years and all my knowledge is gained by spending too much time at the mechanics. At least i learned something.
and tomorrow, i have to change my starter motor on my clio.

okk, Can i actually build a kit car when i cannot replace a f***n starter motor on my clio????
Either i have to remove the exhaust, or the driveshaft. The bolts on the exhaust are so rusty that i couldn't undo them. Cannot remove the
driveshaft as i don't have the required tools and my hands cannot squize in to remove it.
I am so dissapointed.
Jap car engines are amazing. You do not want to overheat it once though. Otherwise you are F**ed. Chassis are horible though.
