Toyota Corolla 1.6 VVT-i G6
Over here the french hate japanese cars. As a result there aren't many about but they can be had at reasonable prices second-hand. I need to buy
a second tin top and there is a 2001 Corolla 1.6 VVT-i G6 with 180,000 kms (112,000 miles) which looks to be in good shape for sale in my local rag.
Before I go and take a look what are these like? What are the weaknesses? Are they dear to service? What else should I know about them? The seller is
asking 2900€ ono, about £2300.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Mike

not much to go wrong at all. some later cars with vvti tend to use alot of oil but that is only on the british built cars. the one your describing
should be a japan built car. to tell the difference british built VIN numbers start with SB
japan built cars start with JT.
as long as its been serviced regular you should not have a problem, nice cars to drive. you made a good choice. i really cant believe french folk hate
jap cars!! wonder why?
hope this helps

Thanks Rob,
Your advice is much appreciated. I'll go and have a look. As for why the french don't like jap cars I really don't know. All the
better for those who have understood

All i know about Japanese cars is to make sure they never overheated and doesn't burn oil. If one of the two ever happened, walk away.
