GPS on Sony W760i or C702
numpty question as i'm sure you lot are more clued up on mobile phones than me.
from the brochure the two models listed above appear to have GPS.
I am PAYG so if I wanted to have GPS running on them, for UK, would I need to have contract or what?
Is it a case of paying some fixed amount to load up software and UK map database and I can then use it much like a stand alone unit e.g. Garmin?
ta.

my mum had one on her phone. you pay for the software on the phone (comes on a memory card) it connects to the GPS receiver by bluetooth, and you pay
to update maps.
all these receivers and connecting this and that, and battery life. get a garmin one. i've got the 300T, was £100 in tesco a while back (was
special offer) and it has live traffic reports and stuff for free

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I was under the impression that those phones offered GPS in the sense of showing where you are but not maps as per sat navs. Hence they are free to
use just like Garmin Etrek for example. It simply receives radio signals.
The likes of the Nokia N95 runs a live map based satnav that constantly downloads data
and costs.
That's how I understand it anyway.
