Whats a 2 litre Zetec worth
The owner of the local scrappy who owes me quite a few favours offered me a 2 litre Zetec engine for £80 is this a good price he says this is half the
going price (he would wouldnt he)
Most stuff he's given me for nowt, it seems fair to me but I'm an engine numpty, what else will I need from the motor (going bike carbs
and megajolt route).
Cheers,
Bob

Thats a good price. YOu wont need much as the standard stuff isnt much good in a 7 as it doesnt fit.
You really need a 1.8 flywheel and escort 1.8 water pump aswell

you can use the exhaust manifold I used the cast manifold and mocified the downpipe saved about £250 if you are looking at saving the pennies, also
try to get him to chuck an alternator in from a 1.8cvh sierra or th 2l DOHC sierra

Also I believe you want a pre 95 version if you run it on carbs.
I am sure someone will confirm this.

The going rate on ebay at themo seems to be £80-120.
I paid £80 for a 2.0 Blacktop, which I thought was quite good.

My salvage place wanted £200 for a silvertop. I'd buy a couple for £80 each.. a 1.8 for the bits and 2.0 for the go

Duratec needs a special bellhousing to mate up to a Type 9 etc though.

Most of the stuff they carry is older so unless I'm lucky it looks like Zetec is the one, cant be arsed with gearbox mounting probs either.
