OT Solidworks..... Help!

I am doubtless being a right numpty here (it wont be the first or last time) but I'm struggling with a very simple problem.

I've drawn a 10mm rod which I need to show as threaded for 8mm. How? I've been searching for about an hour now and it's doing my head in.

I know there are a few SW gurus that get on here. Please could someone tell me where the no doubt very obvious solution is hiding.

I use 2008, so it may be slightly different if you are using a different version.

use the hole wizard, then select change it to a tap. and that should do it.

If like me you have tried this already and then thought it did not work because the hole did not look threaded, this is because you have not selected this feature to be shown.

To turn this on go into document properties, annotations displays, and tick shaded cosmetics thread.

Hopefully that should solve your problem.

Does anybody know where one might obtain an 'evaluation' copy by any chance?

Just a hypothetical question of course....

I think the usual route is to type "torrent" followed by the name of the software you want to evaluate into google......
