Ebay advice required
Quick history
Put a car up for auction.
Stated march 09 MOT.
Found correct MOT for car - I was looking at the wrong one - it's actually december 08.
Immediately amended the listing with the correct MOT as December 2008. This was with about 48 hours to go.
Winning bidder says I'll be down Sunday to pick up the car.
Winning bidder then says 'how long is the MOT for, is it March 09 0r December 08.'
No contact from the winning bidder since. No big deal - if you really don't want to buy the car, then I really don't want to sell it to
you. I can do without the grief.
So, my question.
Can I claim back final value fees ?

Just keep sending email messages to the buyer. If no response, then 7 days after the sell, report an Unpaid item. The buyer will be forced to pay,
because after 2 more unpaid reports he will see the exit from eBay. If buyer gets 3 unpaid reports and excluded from eBay, then contact with someone
from eBay, i strongly recommend to contact with "Griff" -> griff@ebay.com
Top guy. I am sure he will help you!

To be honest, with something like a car, if they don't want I don't really care, but I don't want to pay fees for the abortive sale.

File a "none-paying-bidder" report and you'll (eventually, 8 days for me last time) get your fees back. Don't do a
"mutual" agreement not to proceed, at any time he can change his mind and hold you to ransom
All IMHO of course

The others are right, just file an unpaid item report. You can't file it til 7 or 8 days after the sale. Don't give a reason, just select
the 'buyer has not paid for the item' box.
The buyer will be invited to respond, and may well reply that he was mislead re the MOT dates, but it doesn't really matter, in the end the sale
has not proceeded and you will get you FVF back

The eternal problem for sellers is the risk that are taking when they send an unpaid item report. The buyer will probably leave a negative feedback to
the seller for no reason, most of times.
So be careful, i would recommend contacting Griff prior doing anything!

If the winning bidder bid after your amendment then you are morally in the clear. If he put a high bid in before the amendment then he may have some
grounds to feel agrieved.

As above, I doubt you'll get your fees back.

I, on the other hand, am almost certain that he will

I now have an exchange of emails which I have had with the high bidder where they apologise for not proceeding with the sale.
I have advised them that I will be contacting ebay to look at getting the final value fees returned.
Thanks for all of the advice.

Just to finish this off.
Ebay have just emailed me to confirm that the final value fees are refunded.
