Ebay Stupidity
Was just on eBay and noticed this link about setting maximum postage costs.
http://web.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/maximumP&P_FAQ.html#dvd
Now I would say that sometimes some people do put excessive postage costs on, and I think ebay are doing this to stop people putting postage cost up
to lower their ebay fees.
But looking through the list it says from January next year you have to offer free postage on DVDs, thus forcing you to add the postage cost to the
auction price and you then ending up paying ebay fees on the money you get for postage.
They just seem to be finding more and more ways to take this wee and make more money from sellers.

A little hard work never killed anyone, but why take the risk!

So a DVD is free but a CD max price is £2. How the hell do they work that out?? The actual discs are the same size and the DVD container is usually
bigger than the CD container?!?!?! Bizarre! truly bizarre....

I sold 2 books on early british telephony last year (started out as a joke saying i could sell anything) anyway they were proper old well made books
and cost £6.20 each to post!!
based on new system i would be nearly £7 down!!
it will stop rediculous postage charges though hopefully.

I agree the books one is silly as there is such a variation on the weight/size.
Free is really silly for DVD's
Just noticed a 'get out'
"When selling a very heavy and bulky item, choose the option “Courier: heavy and bulky items” instead of “Flat cost for all buyers” in the Sell
Your Item form. This will allow you to insert a cost higher than the limit. We will monitor items using this option to make sure that those that are
over the limit differ from the assumptions that we used to establish the maximum postage costs."

i can understand sellers been cheesed off for definite, imo ebay is crap now anyway, too many shops and too much cost in fees both on ebay and paypal.
I don't see why buyers winge about the postage though, if you factor it in to the max price you are prepared to pay its irrelevant.

Since they introduced their (price+postage) view option I rarely get annoyed by silly postage prices.
Not sure what difference this will make except give them more money!!

You know the answer, vote with your feet & use ebid instead wherever possible!
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

I was all for maximum postage fees but free postage for DVDs is stupid. It still costs you the price of a big stamp to send them, and a jiffy bag if
you don't buy much from ebay. I shan't be selling any DVDs then.
