American Appliances
I have the option of buying the enormous fridge freezer washer and dryer that is in my US house and taking it with me back to blighty.
They are a lot cheaper than back home, I know I will need a step down transformer but will the appliances mind being on 60Hz instead of 50Hz?
I'm just not sure whether its worth it or not.
Anyone want to comment

Brush motors will be OK, but induction motors, which is what I expect will be in your appliances, probably won't be.
To be sure, you need to check with the manufacturers

suggests you might have a problem with the motor burning out.

As my father in law, who is from Europe says: some things are better in Europe, some things are better in Canada, or in your case the states.
Can't win!!

Shipping big items and buying meaty transformers aint cheap. Is it really worth it anyway?

I think they would be fine. We used to get stuff in the US outlets when I was based in Germany and they are OK. Friend of mine runs a big US fridge
freezer using a transformer and its ok. Also check the import duty.

Liam,
You can get a frequency inverter to change from 60 to 50 Hz. I remember doing this a few years back when moving a production line from the US to
Ireland. Not sure how expensive they are though.
