Wheel refurbing...

My tintop is fitted with some BBS split rims...

A bit like these:

The water has got under the laquer on the outer rims making them go all minginng and corroded...

The centres are also pretty nasty where the powdercoat has started to lift off...

Its a common problem with these wheels...

I need to do something about it but im not sure what/how..

I can get the centres re-powder coated...thats fairly easy...but how can I get a nice durable shiny finish on the rims without having to spend every single weekend out polishing the damn things??.....

Anyone got any experience of such things?

Get them powder coated. Black is ideal as it doesnt show the brake dust. Should be able to get all the wheels done for under a £100.

I have this problem too, mine are on my range rover and they dont make them anymore so i cant just buy new ones. They arnt slit rims but have a large area polished and clear coated around the rims.

I dont like any other wheel so i need to sort these ones out. A1 wheels in wolverhampton charge £150 each wheel but thats just too much for me to hide from her indoors.

Sorry about my spelling, im an engineer and only work in numbers.

Hi

For wheel refurbishment in the midlands area there is only one company ( IMHO ) LAP-TAB.

Based literally just of the J6 M6 spaghetti junction. Very well respected setup used by many motorsport teams Inc local man Mike jordan for all the wheels on the Porche's and BTCC cars etc.

HTH cheers Matt

Isn't there such a thing as clear powdercoat ?

If not, why not ?
