Is there any way I can find out if a company has gone out of business.

I ordered some electronic components from a company, who acknowledged the order, but I haven't recieved anything and can't contact them by phone or email.

Is there any way I can find out if they've gone out of business either voluntarily or bancruptcy etc??

I think there are sites that comapnies can use when deciding wether to offer credit terms etc so i suspect you can but may need to pay. When ive been trying to research companies and directors details they usually have to be paid for.

The problem is that if a company stops trading, no-one will neccesarily know unless they declare so to Companies House. 99% of the time this doesn't happen and it's not until their annual accounts are late that anyone notices. Even then it can take a few months for it to kick in.

Do you have an address for them?? If they are web based it might be worth looking at the domain registered address on somewhere like domainwhois.com and then trying to get a phone number from 118 from that address. May also be worth running the address through Google and see what other businesses they may have.

If you paid on credit card though it might be easier to avoid all the hassle and just request a charge back.

The London Gazette normally shows companies that have gone under. But IIRC you need to know the approx. date.
