Promotion - sort of...
Just got made responsbile for ICT in the organisation in addition to my day job as manager of the Business Excellence team.
Bit of a poisoned chalice as IT has a bad rep in our company and is under performing, but still shows I must be doing something right.
Pay rise isn't there yet... but share options got the green light so pretty pleased.
Just need to learn about IT now.... I'm gonna be the ICT's managers worst knightmare, what is it they say about a "little bit of
knowledge"...
Does mean I might be in a position to throw contractor work in the direction of good specilist people - this forum will become the new version of the
masons!

where abouts are you based?
I currently run an IT support team & have run a development team. If you want any help with explanations of stuff or things we've done to
improve peoples view of IT let me know.

Likewise, I run the IT for a software company of 150-odd in multiple sites, and have managed the client-facing support development team as well - any
questions, feel free to give me a shout!
And good luck

AOL to that. If you want any advice. I've just taken over a support for a good portion of out Oracle Apps system.
If you are adding the ICT infrastructure team, threaten them with ITIL. That'll get them performing
