Hi,

My bestmate is getting a Personalised plate for his birthday and he would like to know if he can transfer it over to a kitcar?

don't quote me on this but if it is age related plate or registered new, they yes.

for sure you are stuck with a Q-plate for ever, nasty things!!

new plate cannot be such that it makes the vehicle appear newer than it is.

yes so long as the Kit isn't a Q-Plate, there fixed for life

Doesn't the incoming plate also have to be the same registration year or older than the car it's going onto?

You can't register a B reg car with a D reg plate for example.

Yes.

Age related registrations are described as non-transferrable, but I've been told on here that this means you can't move them onto another car but you can replace them with an older personalised plate on the kitcar.

I'd check with the DVLA first (shudder).

As regards Q plates nothing wrong with them IMO, can't see them when driving, and make emissions easier at MOT time.

How does the law work i your car is registered 2006 but on a H reg age related plate? Can you only fit a H or older private plate?

At the time of our registration we bought a number plate from the dvla personal plate website, we then took the certificate with us and as agreed previously with the guy dealing with our registration he put the car on this plate, we did have a V5 for a age related plate and the personal plate had to be of the same age or older.
