I saw
this on the bay, listed as "Kit Car Bike Engined Yamaha R1(Yes R1
Powered)", but with manufacture "Caterham" and V5 present. He also says it has a Caterham chassis and is "road legal" and
also "tax exempt"!. The old style reg looked a bit sus, so I looked on Mycarcheck.com and it is listed as a "Ford Popular (new Body)
(Saloon)", and on DVLA as a 1961 Ford.
Also, if it really was a Caterham, would you really butcher the bodywork like that?
looks like a robin hood to me
I think we can discredit the claim that it's an R1 motor as well.
Mine will probably look no better, but - that thing looks really badly put together. None of the panels are blended in, and nothing seems to fit
correctly. The engine bay looks a mess too.

isn't this contravening ebay rules as this car clearly isn't what is advertised as...?
looks like Kwak engine to my non-bec eyes
Do we need to ask the seller some pertinent questions....?
ETA - just had to ask him few questions....what engine code is the R1 motor and what series Caterham chasis.
Results to follow

looks like an fzr1000r exup motor to me, and probably would'nt do the figures if it was still in the bike
Looks like a LOCUST to me. Ladder chassis, plywood body. Not quite as bad as you'd think, but certainly not a Caterham.
It's not got Caterham front wishbones, they look like Locost or Westfield design. Sounds like bells to me
I asked him about the V5, mentioning the mycarcheck and DVLA info.
He says he's "only just owened" it, so maybe he bought it recently and found he'd been duped, and is now trying to get shot of
it... well dodgy, in any case.
Sure doesn't look like a Caterham chassis to me
Nasty car and completely not road legal as described.
We should let Ebay know to avoid someone buying into a whole world of pain!!!

I am faily certain that those headlamp brackets have never gone through an SVA either. They could take someones eye out!
Hi guys, this ad really bothers me. Could I urge you to "report this item" by using the following link, or by simply clicking the
"report this item" link at the very bottom of the page.

That's definitely an FZR1000 motor.
In a LocUst chassis.
If that's worth 3 grand...
I asked him "can you tell me what the manufacturer is on the V5? ...only I just looked on www.mycarcheck.com and it reckons that reg is on a
"Ford Popular (new Body) (Saloon)", and the DVLA vehicle enquiry site www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk has it as a 1600cc 1961 Ford."
His reply: "Thats correct but told it caterham i would not know."
I think he's saying that he was told it's a Caterham, but at minimum that's lazy, assuming he's not lying when the ad says the V5
is present.
Has anyone reported it yet?
i reported it anyway, for the chassis and the log book. Engine isnt far enough off as its still a 1 litre yamaha.
I'm sure I saw this car being advertised on Pistonheads a little while ago as it caught my interest (I was looking to buy one at time).
This guy has it listed again now anyway....
It is on Pistonheads here I've reported the ad, but who knows.....
pistonheads took it down pretty sharpish, glad to see theyre keeping a knowledgeable eye on the classifieds.
Instead of reporting the poor guy for false advertising on flea-bay, why not email him offering advice on how to get the car road legal and running
the way that it should.
He obviously wanted a kit car, that's why he bought this one, but was the victim of the previous seller.
Rather than punish the guy even more, help him out so he can enjoy the pleasure of owning one of these cars.
There, rant over.
His name is kevtvr and his previous items are very much car related including Nissan Skyline parts, do you really think he didn't know what he was selling? Just feel sorry for the sucker who bought it.
