cheap tool box and roller cabinet
bi22le - 3/9/15 at 06:37 PM

I have just been to Halfords and seen the blue top box and bottom roller:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmdMobile?srch=tool+chest&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=- 1&mode=search

Anyone else got one?

I might get one as an early Christmas present.

Interested in what people think, US PRO tools (read Amazon reviews also on ebay and direct web sales, http://www.usprotoolboxes.com/ ) ones seem to have good write ups, not that cheap as the halfords ones. Fancy tidying up the garage...

These don't look to bad:

Halfords ones don't seem to get good reviews.

Dan

120 halfords one? (Link doesn't work for me)
I have a similar one that was there basic one in red, was about 80 iirc and is ok, but feels cheap and is too small for my growing tool collection.
The pro ones come up on bundle deals. (Current one is £299 for top middle and base.) Quality and size is another league. If ur patient the other bundle deals (24hr only) are as low as 150 for top and base, or more regularly 199 for same product on longer term deal.

I have the Halfords Industrial top box and roll cab. I will stick my neck out and say the gear is as good or better than the Snap-on boxes I've had!

Really

I've got an Halfords Industrial top and bottom set in the Ltd edition green and there crap

Ok maybe not crap as they where graded to start with but not a patch on the stainless 40" us pro box and a totally different league to the snap on one.

ooo keep the recommendations coming.

I am in the market for a tool box. I did see the cheap ebay ones and dont think the Halfords ones are far home them. I had a play with it and its cheap but still got me thinking as I thought it was good value and had ball bearing sliders.

THe US tool ones are in my budget (upto 200 quid) but as I can get hands on I dont want to order on straight out.

The Halfords pro ones are lush. Having had snap on tool boxes in the past I would also say they are up there with the best of the best, SIR!

Halfords Industrial gear is a mile away from the non-Industrial stuff!!

Barkalarr - 3/9/15 at 08:51 PM

I've got this one - Linky

I bought the bundle off on xmas day last year. It's a great toolbox, it just makes you want more tools to put in it.... Birthday next month so all good.

I got a halfords one in red, some of the draws are a little shallow for some stuff, quality is ok. you have to remember its a £100 box not a £600-1000 snap on one. For a Locostbuilder its fine. we're not pro's afterall. I got a snap on badge and replaced the halford one. unless you know your stuff it now looks like an expensive snap on one.

Rosco86 - 3/9/15 at 10:05 PM

Halfords professional, top, middle and lower box for £300 at the min but they regular have the top and bottom box for £200

http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/storage?partnumber=174920,174789,174714

Good boxes for home use, I've got two and there great for the price

I've got their 2 ton crane, the ultra-low profile jack and the ratchet axle stands which are really first-rate. However, the tool box, whilst functional, is not to the same standard. Then again, it was about £80 when I bought it, so excellent value for money.

Both son and I have the US PRO TOOLS boxes , bought off ebay , not the cheapest but have proved to be well made and robust!! I have also got a TASKMASTER bottom box with a WATERLOO top box......have had these for years with no problems.

Hello Dan , if you look on ebay and find the us pro tools listings , we bought ours from ' toolclub233' I have the 3 boxes for £430+£20 postage , son has the double width for £660 +postage. I also added a side cabinet for mine later , think that was about £200. It could be worth checking machine mart , because they have several VAT free offers during the year. Hope this helps , best wishes , Anthony.

Another vote for the Halfords industrial range! Again, wait until the sales; I bought the roll cab and top box for £300 the set. Regular use, and three years on I've never had a problem with any of it.

When the time comes to upgrade I'll possibly look at Snap-On or MAC etc., but only because they offer the larger 40" or 52" wide professional size with plenty of storage. I will have to save the pennies for that day, though....

I've had my halford industrial top box and roll cab for a decade now and they are both still in excellent condition. Superb quality, not quite snapon but 10% of the cost for 90℅ of the quality can't be argued with.

bi22le - 22/11/15 at 04:52 PM

So now its a decision of quality (Industrial) over quantity (professional)

I am thinking that the pro will be enough. My garage is tiny so I need to maximise the storage abilities.

I am going to take a look tomorrow afterwork and decide on what I want santa to try and fit down my non existent chimney!!

I got he halfords professional 6 drawer roll cab, 3 drawer mid box and the large top box for £400 earlier this year from haldords direct.
Very impressive stuff for the cost
