I'm no where near finishing my chassis and haven't even picked up my donor but I've been thinking about some wild design schemes for the finished car. I run a graphic design/vinyl artwork business so I could take as much time as I want with it. So far, I've considered the following:

Ford Martini



jack daniels (note the wicked "no. 7"


gsxr colours


rizla superbike colours:


italian or german polizei/polizia scheme


tobacco sponsor style - oh look, someones had the idea already but only in 3d modelling form





or something a bit obscure, like:


suggestions, thoughts, opinions etc - if you think any are particularly good, say so, if you think there's some potentially horrific design ideas, speak up. Gonna get hold of some high resolution images of a haynes roadster and do some photoshop work to see what different colours and designs would look like

What about the old Lotus F1 JPS (black and gold) livery?

the lucky strike one looks very nice, dont know what the jack daniels one could look like but i collect jack danies stuff so that would also be awesome. my vote is for lucky strike tho!

I vote Martini, thinks it looks ace, and never seen it on a 7. It's been on a lot of very awesome cars - does't look great on that van though.

If you run/own a graphic design business then advertise YOU.

I'm sure you could come up with a few nice coloured stripes that include your company name.

What about a nice metallic gold like rockfords firebird? I like the Rizla colours but they're quite common, black and gold sounds good - or how about the old porsche colours - orange and pale blue?

check out MK sportscars they had a Rizla liverie car with R1 engine in. I think the picture is on there site

As for advertising your own business - most companies I've worked for have been fanatical about controlling the use of their logo. If it's used incorrectly then it can lose its status as a registered mark.

Nothing to stop you putting a discrete "artwork by... " statement somewhere though!

I like the Martini colours personally...

Im keen on the Gulf and Rizla schemes myselft but they are quite common on replicas.

I think the JPS could look very good, a nice black with subtle gold trim and pin striping.

I thought about that but my company logo is very subtle and smart, but the main reason for leaning towards a race rep scheme like martini is because of the associated heritage and emotional response. A company branded car would be good advertising but wouldn't invoke the response I'm looking for. You know when you see that special car or bike at a petrol station or a show and you just *have* to stop and enjoy it for a minute - that's what I'm after. A car which carries that kind of striking design would probably do more for my business/reputation than driving around in a business card

Still, good idea & I may build up a fleet of kits with unique branding allover them

One thing to check, if you use your car as an advertising tool then it may become tax deductable / you could list it as an expense for the business / pay yourself for driving (advertising) it.

Have a look HERE it might give you some idea's?
