Just been watching kit car crisis and although his build looks a bit ropey i'm starting to think about getting that style of car instead of a seven type. Are they much more to build over someting like an MK indy? I've had a look at the Spire website but what others are out there?

Thanks for all your replys, quite like the WLR but i think i might prefer mid-engined. All the others seem a bit pricy. What about price? How do they compare to a seven type car? Er yeah great idea Rich i'll just take an angle grinder to it and see what happens, chopshop style.

Something like this by any chance?

I would go for the Spire. But then I am biased
Race winning chassis (1st in RGB class B) and a variety of engine types. As far as building goes it is probably easier than a seven as access when the bodywork is off is much better. Looking at price its all dependent on what engine you fit and if you want to kit it out with all the gucci stuff.

I reckon the build difficulty is about the same as a Seven with a few exceptions which need to be bespoke - after all, much of the technology is the same but middies can take advantage of more modern donors. Engine choice is wider IMO as most modern donor cars are transverse engine/box packages so there's no need to try and mate up weird and wonderful combinations which need custom bell housings etc.

Middies can be rather expensive and you have to look carefully at the bespoke items that will be needed in the build. Sevens were designed to take advantage of the scrappies' resources (and a plethora of specialised suppliers) but middies are a bit more discerning and what looks good on a Seven might not suit a middy, hence the need for custom parts. You HAVE to adopt a very positive state of mind and be able to design 'one off' solutions to all sorts of problems during the build.

I chose my Aeon because I wanted something individual and different, but still (almost) practical as a daily driver - I still have a lot of respect for all of the cars on this forum though

The majority of Spires have bike engines. The most common engine is the ZX12R but with more ZZR1400's becoming available I can see them becoming the popular choise. You could even supercharge it which would give you about 600 bhp/ton.

Been having a look and the spire seems very tempting. Is it possible to build one for around the 10 grand mark?

I had a look around there, they said so and I can't see why not, sourcing your own engine instead of using breakers would be a good place to start, they had an unfinished one in there they were thinking of selling, be worth giving them a call. Nice chaps.

I wonder if anyone has tried to put one of these on the road......

This months totalkitcar magazine has a section about trackday cars, many of which are LMP style.

I like the look of that lynx but the front wheel arches put me off a bit. I will have to have a look at Total kitcar, i can only get 'Kitcar' in my local shop and it's getting really boring with the same old stuff in every month.

Hi the Wolfe is based on the Riot chassis we run the ZX10r engine in ours. Tony races in the RGB series and came 2nd in class B last year
