Someone in the know?
SALAD - 23/10/05 at 04:50 PM

Hello everybody,
It's been a while since I've been active on my car and subsequently this site. However, it is good to see that everyone is still as helpfull as ever (just one contributing factor motivating me to get started in the first place).
I am now, fingers crossed, at a point that I can continue with the build. So......I'm hoping I can call upon this wealth of knowledge and helpfulness to ask, ever so nicely, if someone local to me could pop round and give my chassis the once-over for piece-of-mind's sake.
I bought it through this site and wish to be 100% sure it is of a standard worth continuing with as I'm rather new to this sort of thing.

I live in Highcliffe and the workshop is in Hordle.
Please help as I'm eager to progress!

Thank you,
Sam

Best way to start is to check the base is flat and doesn't rock when weight is applied to the corners (front corners and roll bar mounts).

Second is to check the diagonals of the main square tub section (where you sit) to check it hasn't lozenged.

Hope that starts you off.

Pat...

Rusty Nuts; Apology accepted.

Avoneer,
thank you for your reply. I checked the diagonals etc when it arrived and these are fine. It's the position of a few of the chassis tubes that are causing the concern.
Namely the area around 'f','e','j','i'. and the 'H','G1','G2' area. For one the 'G' tubes are not the same either side.

If these positions are not set in stone and can be altered to accomodate different engine/running gear set-ups, without affecting strength etc, then I think I'm all good.

A few months late!
My sister lives in Hordle, and I was there in my Locost In June!
In fact avatar pic was taken in Beaulieu.
Where's your workshop?

Marcus

Marcus,

Actually, my first plea for assistance was in June (the 26th). The last time I did anything on the car!!
Had oodles of viewings but no replys, I put it down to the good weather, thinking everyone must be out enjoying themselves!

The workshop is on my friends land. (Stuart Bailey Tool Hire).

I know the place!
Was down there on 26th - that's why I didn't see your post!

So then, am I correct in thinking that the positions of the chassis tubes f, e, j, i, and H, G1, G2 are not set in stone and can be altered slightly to accomodate various set-up's?? Anyone??

Marcus, let me know next time your down?!
