I am thinking of enclosing the trailer using aluminium. Can anyone give me an idea as to what thickness of sheet to use?

I imagine 1mm, maybe less - but if your after a locost option, try to find breakers with a few lutons, take along your shears and take as many rolls as you can. Be pretty cheap.
