Hi all,
I have been lurking for quite a while on the forum but thought I would put out a post now. I have nearly completed tack welding my frame (highly
modified from the book) and have been in search of an appropriate high hp engine for my car. I have decided to install a Nissan sr20det (turbo)
in-line 4 that produced 205 hp stock with potential up to 400 hp on stock internals. The engine is an alum. block thus lightweight.
This setup is going to cost me around $1800 (US) which is definitely not locost, but should get me where I want to be regarding power/weight with
little or no modifications.
Keep up the good work on this forum. I have gained tremendous value and insight from those who have been willing to share in their experience. I
hope to provide the same during my build.

Hi Cory,
Sounds like an interesting project and should result in a swift car as well.
Do you have any pics of the build so far?
Cheers
Nick
is this the lump from late 200sx's? i was looking into the silvia engines (s12 maybe? guess based on s13...), but someone on ebay implied they
were a meagre 135bhp, which i doubt personally.
my thinking on nissan turbos is basically, they are easy to find in RWD and much cheaper than cossies, but still VERY tunable.
keep up posted on progress anyway fella!!
In the US, only the sr20de is available from the Sentra and 200sx and it is normally aspirated. Stock rating is 140 HP. The import market is
actively bringing in JDM spec sr20det (turbo) from the s13, s14 and s15 body styles. HP ratings are 205, 220, and 250 respectively. I have found a
local importer (Houston, TX) and have taken a look at their inventory. Not bad, includes, all accessories, wiring, ECM, ect.
I will try to post frame pics tonight.

I am in the process of fitting the S12 Silvia engine into my Dutton. The standard engine pumps out 135 hp, but is very tunable up to 250hp pretty easily and cheaply.
