i heard if u put carbs on on the engine it gives u more bhp. can carbs go on the ford 2.9 v6? i was thinking of 6 single motor bike carbs for each cylinder. so can this be done???????

Its true most engines will give more bhp with better carbs, but more so with the newer engines like the zetec as ford had to meet stiffer emmisions

As for your V6, weber do a better carb as do holley, as for bike carbs if your going to all the trouble of making costum manifolds then i personally would fit bike throttle bodies, just buy two sets of 4 and chop one off. Your big problem though will be to balance them all up

unless you have acess to tuning facilites, you will probably end up with a badly jetted system that gives less power than the standard efi...

In that case as long as you can find 6 matching bike carbs you've only got a manifold to make

I would guess you would need carbs off a 1000cc sports bike

Paul, bit of throw away advice,

i would if i was you get your car up n running on the road with standard mechanicals n save bits for winter projects, your car will be on the road sooner n you have have summat to do during cold wet winter lay ups, building the car will be no small task without doubling build time on jobs that can be done later when yr board.

just a thought.

the v6 has all its intakes in the middle of the engine. theres a good chance that 6 carbs are gonna clash with eachothers space.......these would all have to fit in the V.

a single car carb might be a bit tall, as the manifold sits in the V and the carb on that.

How much power were you hoping to get out of the engine and how much did you want to spend?
Don’t forget the all-important power to weight thingy, as you may be slightly disadvantaged before you start by using the V6! It’s quite a heavy lump (comparatively)
