I am planning to fit bike carbs to my car shortly which require a choke, but do not want to use a standard pull out and twist choke knob on the dashboard, as they are not that visually pleasing. I was thinking along the lines of a flush fitting lever (similiar to a door handle or glove box lever).

Has anyone done this before and what have you used? Photos would be good

how is it going to lock then? I've never had a problem with the normal ones tbh and at least you could spot very easily if it had been left out

I have one of those unsightly things on my car, it's under the dashboard attached to the steering column mount so it's set back and unseen.

No photo's but I hope the description is enough.

Have you got a sierra colum? Iv mounted my choke to the bonnet pull under the colum. Out of sight. It wont stay on but you only need the choke to fire it up. Once its going u shouldnt need it.

I stuck mine out of sight under the dash. It's only used for the first few seconds anyway and I spend that long faffing around getting the harnesses ready, adjusting mirrors etc etc....

Hillman Limp used one on the tunnel just behind the gear lever it work quite well

I you wanted to get all fancy, then a stepper motor and push buttons maybe?

As above either use the Sierra bonnet pull or as I and many others have done under the dash out of sight.

Can't reach it with the harness on but its only really required if the engine is stone cold(crazy!)

i just didnt put one on...never had to use the choke after about 15 secs of starting...just get to lift the bonnet the first time i start it...

Skoda Estelle used a tunnel mounted lever. but where can you find one of those these days?

I used a universal lawnmower throttle lever bought off ebay for a few Pounds - it came with a very good quality cable, which I also needed. It's tucked under the dash on the driver's side (as can be seen in the slightly fuzzy picture below)
