
Hi I'm lead to believe there are 2 variations of pinto 2.0L onr of which has 205 on the block would one of u knowledgable people please enlighten me cheers Keith
I'm no expert on Pinto's, but I think the 205 is the stronger block and was used in Cosworth engines.

205's are the later ones (mainly EFI engines)
20's are the early ones (carb'd sierra etc)
the 205 is a bit stronger / thicker / heavier (its the same as the cossie 2wd block)
Ford made 3 types
2l block capri / cortina
2l /205 block sierra
2l / 200 block these were for the cosworth
+ 1.3 / 1.6 / and 1.8 blocks

most of the 205's have a very large "205" cast into both sides of the block - you can't miss it

So 1511111111111 - I was going to reply but in just 28 mins you have received a complete and accurate summary on Pinto blocks. LocostBuilders is a great resource!
as well as the head the other main difference is the EFI engines have slightly stronger conrods
6700rpm for the early forged rods
6900rpm for the later cast ones
(according to the book anyway)

Also, IIRC, the 205 block is ok with unleaded.

Also, the Burton catalogue / website is a pretty good source of info on all the Ford engines, including a dating chart (for figuring out when they
were built, not like blind date...... you know what I mean...
)
