Chaps,

If I use the original Rover filter tube and connecting pipework, my engine is quite wide - resulting in a huge bonnet bulge/scoop - not what I want!.

I'm thinking that I should get some "half-cylinder" type filters, and bolt them directly to the carbs - then they can stick through the bonnet.

Trouble is, is the price. £45 + each seems a bit steep.

Has anyone got any other suggestions or where to get them for about £20 each - I can cope with that!

Please don't suggest Weber or Holley, as that really would be stretching the budget.

What does the SVA manual say about bonnet protrusions?
I think we are going to have a bump/scoop over our plenum and hopefully the airflow meter and filter will tuck away down the side nicely.

Even if you don't win (or even bit) it may give you some ideas. If you got it you could sell your old manifold and fit this one???

Yeah - seen that - MGB V8 manifold, apparently they don't breathe very well.

But, as I have a spare manifold or two lying around, I may think about making something like it.

Are they the small (5"? dia) pancake filters), yep thought about that too, though may finally end up with a combo of
the MGB V8 manifold and small pancakes.

could always go for the modify sd1 to take webber 38 dgas carb ie machine of the inverted V on the manifold and make a flange for the carb to sit on.

also some of the mini k&n`s are conical

I wouldn't bother with pancake filters if at all possible. They are too restrictive!

If necessary use some flexible hose and fit a remote filter in the nose.
At a push you could use household ducting. The sort you fit to the cooker and bathroom extractors.

Anything has to be better than pancake filters!
