Bike carb Woes
skibum - 7/3/09 at 02:20 PM

Hi All

Still have problems with my bike carb install,

I now have evrything installed correctly but when trying to start the engine it turns over and goes to start but will not fire.

I have spark and fuel etc is there anything else that you guys have come across when fitting these that could be causing the problem as its starting to do my head in.

Cheers

Matt

What engine/ignition system are you using. Possibly an ignition timing problem , firing order or fouled plugs? Modern plugs don't like getting wet so try a new set. Disconnect fuel pump and with new plugs try a squirt of brake cleaner down the inlets, if engine fires and runs then problem is fuel , if it doesn't then it is ignition.

maybe get some locost builders round to have a look...

are you using the choke for initial starting? as above brake cleaner or easy start to make sure ignition ok first?

Thanks for all the help chaps

Have now taken the plugs out which were wet. Took them out dried and cleaned them and engined fired no problems

Sounds sweet as a nut now
