Air filter backplate
james h - 20/4/09 at 09:19 AM

I am intending to get a air filter backplate to fit my 2000 R1 engine.

My question is, do I need to cut a hole for just the carb opening or do I also need to cut the aluminium for the two openings below the carbs openings?

Hope that makes sense

Thanks

James

Yes you need to allow for the openings, best to use the airbox mounting rubbers, much easier to fit & remove when necessary, that way you will get a good airtight seal too.

I took the rubbers out of the R1 airbox, the ones that actually wrap around the base of the Carb. I then cut the backplate to accept these rubbers and they fit like a glove. Would a Pic help?

A pic would be great thanks if you have one handy. I have just bought some individual pipercross filters to last me through the trip to sva, seems like I need to get some airbox rubbers too at some point.
