Engine & gearbox instalation.
Thinking about it - 7/5/09 at 10:46 PM

Can anyone speak from experience.
Is it possible to install a CVH and a Type 9 into a book chassis together. Or will it be split, box first then engine? I guess the answer will be the same for Pinto,X flow etc

When ever we do it (CVH and T9), they go in separatley. Can't really see the advantage of putting them in together, even if you had an engine crane, as it's hard enough getting the box in the right place on its own. Having said that the underside is completely panelled and our box is mounted differently to most I'd imagine.

Iv put my engine and box in together. Its a bit tight but not too hard.
Its a custom(ish) chassis and a six pot so not too similar to a cvh and book chassis

I think youl do it if you can lift the chassis over the engine??

My zetec has to go in from the top seperatley.

Pinto+T9 went in together from above into my Indy. Easy enough with an engine crane and the rear of the chasis up on axle stands (front on it's wheels.

Easier with 2 people, one to guide and one to crane

ive made mine with a removable brace so i can drop the engine and box in together then bolt the brace back on for strength
