is it hard to rebuild carbs

i just got a pair of dellorto carbs off a lotus,now thay need rebuilding,i was gona get a book,or do you think its not that hard thing to do?i carnt see its that trickey its tuneing them witch is hard.

also has anyone made there own linkdge for said carbs or webbers?

"Rebuilding" them is quite straight forward. Tuning them id leave to the experts.

I was in your situation, i bought a pair of webers for my xflow, rebult them in a few hours which I found easy with the aid of the instructions in the rebuilt kits. I was going to have a go at tuning them, but was convinced to take the car to a rolling road.

The guy rr'ing the car changed the pump jets, chokes, emulsion tubes and mains jets to get them running right for my car. I would have never thought that you needed to change parts to "tune" them!

They're not too complicated, the rebuild kits I bought for my Solex addhe's had exploded carb drawings in, which help.

how much did it cost you in parts for that? or in total actually

I have twin webers on mine tallk to fast road cars ( he has an ebay shop)a guy called Anthony he is really helpfull he will calculate and recomend the correct jetting for the carbs. Buy a new refurb kit and some carb cleanerand DIY

Each kit was about £25 I think and I needed 1 per carb.

Paid £100 + parts for the RR session which came to about £150.

I left there with 130bhp on my first session. I fitted electronic igniton and on my second session, some weeks later, I ended up with 135bhp.

It can be done, but the guy had loads of experience and new exactly what he was looking for.

I found Hammill's book "How to build and power tune Weber and Dellorto"etc invaluable in rebuilding mine. He also offers great advice on size of jets which makes it easy to get close to a perfect tune.

Which spec carbs are they. Some, the late emission ones, are near enough spot on. Drill the idle jets to 60 or 62 and probably perfect. Worked on my 1800 zetec, same sort of output as the pinto....
