I have a standard 1300 x flow with 4, 2, 1 Escort Sport (I think) exhaust manifold. I have lagged the system with one layer of exhaust tape to where it exits the side panel but the under bonnet temps still appear high. Not on the road yet but has anyone with this set up put any vents in the bonnet? If so, pics would be interesting, or a link.

if you haven't got flared side panels then i would definately put some sort of ventilation at the back of the bonnet

I made vent for the side panel next to the manifold. I've no other holes or vents in the engine compartment and underbonnet temperatures have not been an issue.

the bonnet above the manifold would get to how that I could not hold my hand on the bonnet.

So I did two things. fitted B&Q aluminium ventilator louvres to let heat out and above the exhaust, a second aluminium plate to act as heat shield.

sit tight and I'll pop off downstairs for somoe photos.....

notice the aluminiujm angle stiffeners to make bonnet a bit less floppy.

My 1600 x-flow got very hot and the bonnet was to hot to touch. However, these vents seem to have made a dramatic improvement. Not actually measured the temperature but the surface of the bonnet is significantly cooler than before. The vents are now painted black and look much nicer in my opinion.
