Zetec ARP Rod Bolts - Socket Size
HOL - 29/6/09 at 08:11 AM

Tried changing these on Sunday night between the old engine and new.

But I did not have the correct socket.

It looks like a standard 12 point jobbie, but 9mm is to small and 10mm is too big.

Is there a special sized socket?

All my Torx sockets are 6 or 8 point.

3/8" AF? 9.5mm

Paul,

That was my guess and I have reserved one at Halfrauds for tonight, but I wanted to make sure that it wasn't some 'special' sized Torx.

Although, it does not appear that there are any 12 sided Torx.

Hi Andy,

It's a 3/8" socket. When you fit the ARP bolts don't use the torque figure in the Haynes manual, there's a special ARP torque setting that you have to use, have a look at their website for info.

Cheers for the measurements yesterday btw :-)

Thanks for the help chaps

My purchase from halfrauds did the job nicely last night.

All torqued up to the ARP method of torque on-torque off-torque on etc...

Just got to put the damn thing in the car now.

Andy
