ok then lads, what's the trick for getting the sump off a pinto, i've removed all the bolts i can find and it's still stuck solid
any ideas?
cheers
alex
If you've got all the bolts out it looks like brute force and ignorance is the next step. I usually use an old flat screwdriver and try to loosen a corner by knocking it in with the hammer. If it's had some jointing compound on it they can be quite solid. Don't use anything too thick or you could bend the flange, but it should stand up to some abuse.
Probably find that someone's used some form of gasket goo to seal a leak. Just hope that it's one of the non-setting ones!
If you're sure that you've got all the bolts, fasteners and whatever else undone, try some heat (e.g. a paint-stripping
'hairdryer' ), combined with 'brute force and ignorance.'
Try not to bend the edges, and expect to need a new gasket!

just a thought, and maybe a stupid one at that!
Have you removed the drain plug?
Could this cause a vacuum making it harder to get off?
When I undid all the bolts on mine it fell off, but then it was leaking badly before I took it out of the Sierra anyway.
Cheers
Nick

looked like sealant been *really* overtorqued by someone in the past
