How do you tell if its been done previously? Is there a dimension from rocker gasket face to the cylinder face?

Come on guys! loads of people have pintos, it can effect timing and fueling surely people have'nt just put em'on and hoped

Try phoning these guys they do all the stock car engines pintos, in my area

Engine services, ask for Alec, not at lunch times.

My head is off, but at work, I'll measure it tomorrow

Mark Allanson - 14/4/04 at 06:10 PM

..as promised, it is EXACTLY 95.000mm from rocker gasket face to cylinder deck face, assuming mine has not been skimmed previously, but the exact measurements look like it was designed that way

unless it had been dramatically skimmed (which would only normally be the case with a decent head i.e. bronze guides, ported, bigger valves etc etc then I wouldnt worry too much. The timing is fairly easy to set up as long as you can hear pinking (that's basically how it would be done on a rolling road anyway) and you shouldnt trust the factory setting re the timing because on a pinto this is notoriously innaccurate anyway! Fuelling wise, you should get the carb jetting checked quickly on a rolling road anyway just to be sure, in which case it doesn't really matter. Only way to accurately check the CR is the measure the chamber cc's and piston heights etc etc and do it that way. (but as I said, I wouldnt worry unless building a competition engine)

Cheers chappies!
