blakep82 - 24/11/09 at 02:07 PM

what size has the hole got to be for unleaded fuel? can't find it the manual

is it 13.5mm or something?

matt_claydon - 24/11/09 at 02:22 PM

23.6mm or less. Not too much less though else you won't get a nozzle into it!

It's 23.6mm diameter for SVA.

Don't think it changed for IVA.

Cheers

Mike

hmm, just searched the manual for "23.6" and it doesn't come up lol

cool thanks guys, so less than 23.6mm but whats the size of the filler nozzle? don't want it too small! going to get one cut from aluminium to be welded into my tank

I dont think a restrictor is in IVA as the only petrol avail is unleaded. so no need to diferentiate

blakep82 - 24/11/09 at 02:44 PM

only unleaded was available for SVA too i think. well, unleaded and diesel.
i thought it was to stop diesel being put in as the diesel filler is bigger isn't it?

Made mine 23.0mm which is no problem at the petrol stations...

ah, very nice! how does it stay in the neck withought coming out? just a very tight fit? or glued? has it passed s/iva?
might consider a plastic one myself. was just going to get one cut from ali plate and welded in, but since the tank smells of petrol, not sure its a brilliant idea lol

my cap is a screw on one like yours, so should work well

Restrictors only need fitting on post 95 engines. We manufactured one and fastened it into the neck with rivets. There was a lip inside the neck for the restrictor to sit on. We then drilled above it in three locations and popped a few rivets to hold it in place.

my plan was to have a 2mm plate cut out and sort of tack it in at 3 or 4 places (fill the tank with water to expell any gas?) don't mind if it falls out up the neck at some point

Ed's solution looks good too though, might go for that. sure someone on here can make something in some kind of plastic for me too

engine is a 1998. i didn't think that one through well when i bought it lol
