Clutch slave set up

Looking at making an adaptor spacer for my clutch slave cylinder.

I know the set up height for the clutch plate when new, how much should I allow for as the clutch cylinder wears?

I have a feeling that I might not have enough space to squeeze an adaptor in very easily. That said, anything is possible!

i did mine by measuring the height of the slave (a concentric one) when it was all squished up, added a few mm (3 i think?) then measured the space between the fingers and the cylinder mount and took away the height of the cylinder. the answer was the depth of the spacer. the adding of 3mm meant the cylinder wouldn't be pushed back ALL the way.

if it pushes too far then the pedal stop can be adjusted to stop it going too far. as the clutch wears then it can be adjusted too, but i don't know how far it needs to push, and how far is too far...

i've probably done it wrong

the clutch plate has all sorts of grooves cut in doesn't it? i think the plate is completely worn when the grooves are worn away

As a clutch wears the fingers move towards the slave cylinder. Basically I am wondering how much to allow for this movement.

I have at max 7mm to fit the adaptor in.

I have to have something in there as I need to adapt from the std ford slave cylinder mounting holes to the saab type one I need to use.

I reckon I could go down to 3.5mm if I need to.

You have a new clutch plate, so you can bolt that up and measure the finger height.

Measure the thickness of the clutch rivets, that gives you the worn out thickness.

Now make up 6 or so bobbins that thicknes, and assemble the clutch with those spaced equally round the mating faces in place of friction plate, and that gives you the finger height worn out.
