Not locost related but help please

I have been trying to get a nut off the end of the crankshaft on a Suzuki gsx1000. It holds the rotor on and I need to get that off to get to the starter clutch.

Any ideas - we have tried the spanner and hammer and the air wrench on max but it does not want to shift. it doesnt help that the play in the drive gear takes up when you hit it

I have made that mistake !!

If not can you attack it wih a mallet and cold chisel
nut will be fucked but it will come off

Might apply some heat if you haven't already.

I usually have better luck with leverage than a hammer. My torque wrench has a long extension, so is the usual tool. Or you could use a length of pipe on your wrench handle.

Take it round to your local garage and get them to try with a pneumatic impact wrench before you use drastic measures.

LIKE THE MAN SAYS pneumatic impact wrench IS THE WAY TO GO . we took the clutch end one off struggled for ages so took it too ATV enginnering. They put the air tool on it and it rattled for a few secs and came off no bother........went and got myself one, not expensive but you need serious air to work it (14cfm) not had a problem since.

Reading the question I think the air wrench has already been tried !

A method I used, (allbeit destructive) to remove my XR4x4 rear hub nuts was to drill a hole through the nut as close as possible to, but not touching the shaft and then split the nut with a lump hammer and chisel. Sounds OTT but as long as you hit the nut at a tangent it should be OK.

If I have realy stuck nuts that my impact gun dont fix, I have an extendomatic handle for my wrenches, a 6 foot long pipe, spray the nut with wd40 (get it nice and wet), let soak for a few, spray some more, then spin it off.

I have both left and right nuts, never tried using an impact hammer on them. I'll bet that would hurt!
